purplesheepyarns.co.uk ("this site", "we", "us") does not operate its own checkout, account system or basket — where we recommend a product, we link out to Amazon to buy it (see our Affiliate Disclosure below). This policy explains the limited data we do collect.
1. Data we collect
- Contact form. If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you provide, solely to reply to your enquiry. This is sent by email and logged briefly on the server as a spam-prevention backstop. We do not add you to any mailing list.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are visited, using cookies/local storage that assign your browser an anonymised identifier. See Google's own privacy policy.
- Advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider logs IP addresses and requests for security and troubleshooting purposes for a limited retention period.
2. Legal basis & your rights (UK GDPR)
Where we process personal data (contact form submissions), our legal basis is legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you — contact us via the contact page to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
3. Cookies
This site uses cookies/local storage set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. No first-party tracking cookies are set for any other purpose. You can block or delete cookies via your browser settings at any time; doing so will not affect your ability to read content on this site.
4. Data retention
Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, plus a short period for spam/abuse prevention, then deleted.
5. Amazon Associates affiliate disclosure
purplesheepyarns.co.uk is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk.
Some pages on this site show a "Shop this on Amazon" card or thumbnail linking to a current Amazon.co.uk listing for a matching item. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made after clicking these links, at no extra cost to you. These links are clearly marked, open in a new tab, and are the only commercial links on this site besides the AdSense advertising described above. We do not control Amazon's pricing, stock or product listings, and product matches are generated automatically — always check the Amazon listing itself before buying.
